North Brunswick Township Schools Community:

Today at approximately 11:15 am a student came forward and reported to school administration a possible threat of violence towards NBTHS that was posted on social media. The administration immediately contacted the North Brunswick Township Police Department who quickly responded to the school and launched an investigation. As a result of their investigation, detectives were able to identify a current NBTHS student who had made the threat. The NBTPD is continuing their investigation in consultation with the Middlesex County Prosecutors office to determine if criminal charges are appropriate.

We would like to praise the student who came forward and encourage all parents to have a conversation with their children about the seriousness of threats posted on social media. Now more than ever it is crucial that parents monitor their children’s social media feeds. We continue to encourage any student and parent to practice the protocol of “If you see something, say something,” and notify the school of any concerns you have. We would like to thank the NBTPD for their quick response and successful investigation of this incident.

Sincerely,

Janet Ciarrocca
Superintendent of Schools
